Think I may be able to help you a little bit. My ancestor, James Tracey Sanderlin (b. 1815), had a brother Lemuel and their father was Griffin/Griffith Sanderlin. Lemuel died a POW in the Civil War and is buried in IL. If this is your lineage, my info goes back to 1675, John Sanderlin b. Camden Co, NC. and I'll be glad to share it with you.
(There is some confusion between "Griffith" and "Griffin" in the records I've seen.)
