Thanks for the information. This isn't the Romulus I am looking for, but I believe he is related.

The Romulus Sanders enumerated on the 1860 census in Sevier Co., AR, claimed to have been born abt. 1831 in TN (probably Bedford or Rutherford counties). I suspect his father was a native of NC, and may have ties to the family group you noted. Romulus first turns up on an 1854 marriage record in Hempstead County AR. I'm told that a large group of families left Bedford TN sometime in 1849 for Hempstead Co. If he was part of that group, that may be the reason I can't locate him on the 1850 census: he was en route.
