Widow Starling Saunders, Onslow Co NC
Does anyone know of a widow, Starling Saunders, in Onslow Co NC late 1700s-1813ish?I think her late husband's name was John. Starling shows up in the 1810 census (I want to say in Swansboro, but am having a brain freeze). In 1813, she sold her small lot to Asa Turner, and shortly thereafter moved to Henderson Co KY.Soon after that, she married one Richard Poole, the uncle of Asa Turner's wife, Nancy. When Starling made her will in 1839, she left her estate "for love and affection" to the two surviving children of Asa and Nancy (Poole) Turner, Hirum Turner and Bathsheba (Mrs. Alexander Haskins).
John Saunders might have been from Murderkill 100, Kent Co DE, which is very near where Asa Turner's family-of-origin had lived prior to 1770.I suspect Starling's maiden name was Turner, but can find no marriage record to back that up.Asa Turner was the brother of Elias Turner II, who was both my fourth and fifth greatgrandpa (I descend from Betsy Turner Elliott born 1806 in Orange Co NC, and from the nephew Asa Turner, born 1804 in orange Co NC).
There were several Sanders/Saunders marriages to Turners in Wake Co NC, and I do wonder if those Turners were related to my Turners, who were in Orange Co (in the area that is now Durham Co) from about 1777 - 1809.
