Mary 'Polly' Sanders/William McNair / AL / 1860s

William McNair enlisted in the 1st Battalion AL Artillery, Co F on Feb 9, 1863 at Selma AL. He was present until admitted to the hospital at Ft Morgan AL on Dec 29, 1863 with diarrhea but returned to duty on Jan 14, 1864. He was again admitted to the hospital on April 12, 1864 and returned to duty April 23, 1864. He was captured at Ft Morgan on Aug 23, 1864 and was sent to Elmira prison in New York Sept 27, 1864. He died there March 18, 1865 of diarrhea and is buried in grave number 1827. This information came from his Confederate service records.
