Where did you find the information that Peter F. was James' father? Do you know when and where Peter was born? I cannot find any ancestors of James A Saunders.

On the census from DeKalb, TN, the family members are correct, but the name should have been spelled SAUNDERS. According to another family member, "James joined Company C, 4th Virginia Infantry, Pulaski Guards, CSA on 17 Apr 1861. He was injured in the knee at the Battle of Gettysburg. On 01 June 1914, the Confederate pension that his widow, Martha Elizabeth MONROE Saunders applied for in Austin, Texas, was approved".
I have also found out that the Martha E. Monroe was daughter of Elisha MONROE and Catherine "Kitty" WALTON. If you could help with James' line of SAUNDERS, I would appreciate the information.
Thank you so much,
Starlyn Thompson
