Willard,
I wish I did know anything more, but that's it. There are so many James Saunderses/Sanderses around there that I can't tell who is who.
One of them married Kerenhappuch Sanford, the widow Medlock, in Halifax County, VA, in 1793. I am especially interested in knowing about that couple, but, except for the fact that James acknowledged receipt of his Sanford step-mother's estate, I can't point to him at all.
I am descended from a James Saunders/Sanders in Sumner County, TN, whose first wife is unknown, although at least three women's names get reported. That James married about the right time to have been the one marrying K. Sanford Medlock in 1793.
I would give a lot to prove that connection, but it seems to have come down to eliminating the alternatives.
You have a long posting history about Sa(u)nderses. Is there one James you think this might be?
Walter
