LAVONIA - Mrs. Luly Dean Sanders, age 97, of Lavonia, died Monday, August 2, 2010 at her home.
Born March 3, 1913, in Martin, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Nancy Hunter Dean. She retired from Columbia Farms and was a homemaker. Mrs. Sanders was a member of Martin Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: C.B. Sanders; daughter: Juanita S. Gurley; six brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; and a close neighbor: James Williams.
She is survived by daughters: Wanda S. Wilson Mansfield and Fran of Lavonia, Ellen S. Chappelear of Lavonia, and Susan S. Harris and Gerald of Lavonia; sisters: Minnie Brock of Lavonia and Christine Whitlock of Martin; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; sixteen great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Finger and Rev. Richard Bielski officiating. Burial will follow in Lavonia City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. At other hours, the family will be at the home of Wanda and Fran Mansfield, 8534 Highway 59, Lavonia, GA 30553.
