Hello Raymond,

I've been searching for the father of George W. Sanders for several years, and haven't yet come across anyone named C.W. Sanders. If you don't mind I'd like to hear what you know about him. If nothing else it might help spark some dialogue about this line.

George's given birth year (1839) seems fairly solid in that it more or less agrees with info on later census records. I think his father probably died between 1844-1850. The only thing I know for certain is that Mary Magdalene Brown married George's father in Bedford Co., TN prior to the 1820 census. The census record for her father, Shadrack, accounts for all of his known children except his two oldest daughters, Mary and Naomi, the latter of whom married in 1818. It appears George's family remained somewhere in TN until at least 1832, the year Romulus Sanders was born (and whom I am 99% certain is an older brother to George), and were residing in Arkansas no later than 1836, the year his older sister Mary was born. By 1850 George, his mother and two sisters were back in Bedford Co., TN living in the home of her mother, Tabitha Hall Brown.

I have a lot of information on George's maternal line. Myself and another researcher put together a well documented family tree regarding the ancestors of Mary Magdalene Brown. The tree takes her line back another four generations to Henrico Co., VA, circa the early 1700's. If you are interested I will send you a link to the tree. It also has a photo of George W. Sanders, which I believe was taken around 1870.

I should also add that I joined the Sanders surname DNA Project about one year ago, but have no matches. So, no help there.

Judging by your last name it appears you descend from George through one of his many daughters that married into the Parker line: Mary Magdalene, Eliza, Biddie, Winnie or Ida. I descend from his son George Jr.

Justin Sanders.
