I will start with what I know. Major was born abt. 1800-1801. He bought land in Lincoln County, TN in 1826 and sold the same land abt. a year and half later. At that time he was residing in Lincoln Co. not far from present-day Fayetteville (around Belleview). Sometime after 1827 he moved to Bedford County and settled a little south of present-day Shelbyville. He first appears in the 1830 Bedford Co., TN census with his family. Based on the dob of his children, we can determine that he moved to Searcy Co., AR about 1838-39. He appears in the 1840 Searcy Co., AR census (as Mager Sanders). Shortly after that he died because his wife is listed as owing no poll tax in 1841, and the next couple of years, his oldest son is shown paying the poll tax. Before 1850, the whole family left and moved to Lawrence Co. (now Sharp), AR. Frances is listed in the 1850 census there, but after that she disappears along with youngest son Major (who was likely born after his father's untimely death). The rest of the boys (except Allen) are living close together in Lawrence Co. The following are the children of Major and Frances:
Samuel Blake - b. 1822 TN
Harris M. - b. abt. 1823 TN
James DeKalb - b. 1825 TN (my line)
William J. - b. 1828 TN
Joseph D. - b. 1830 TN
Andrew Benjamin - b.1832 TN (my line)
Eliza Jane - b. 1834-35 TN
Allen N. - b. 1837-38 TN
Major - b. abt. 1841 AR

My maternal grandfather's mother was the daughter of James DeKalb, and my maternal grandmother was the granddaughter of Andrew Benjamin. I believe that makes them distant cousins.
What I don't know -- Exactly where Major was born. In one census Samuel Blake (oldest son) lists his father's place of birth as KY. In a later census, he lists it as TN.
William J. lists his father's place of birth as TN.
Unfortunately the other children didn't live long enough to record it since the first census that asks that is 1880. I do not know who his parents were. Most researchers believe that Jesse Sanders, who moved to AR about the same time and settled in Searcy Co. was Major's brother. However, some family trees claim that Jesse was the son of James Sanders while others claim that his father was Samuel Sanders. Both men are listed in the 1820 Lincoln Co. TN census. By the way, this census is incorrectly labeled as Jackson Co. on Ancestry. I lean towards Samuel because Major named his first son Major. However, neither one may be correct.
I do not know Major's wife's maiden name although I lean toward Mauldin. In researching this, I have found that Blake and Harris were both names common to the Mauldin line, some of whom came from S.Car. to GA and then to TN and Al. All for now. Beverly
