I need some help with my aunt's (Georgia Florence Wiler) husband, Ray Sanders, who was Native American. I don't know if he was Cherokee or Choctaw or another Tribe but I do know he was Indian.

The Story goes that he was murdered after my 2nd cousin, Joyce, was born in 1934.

I do find Ray Sanders on the 1930 Census on the Dallas, Dallas Co., TX census as a boarder in the household of Cora Murray. We are also related to these Murrays by marriage. Cora's daughter, Opal, married Georgia's brother, Holland.

At any rate from this one census, Ray Sanders was 20 years old born in 1909-10 Oklahoma and he reports his mother and father were both born in OK. His wife is enumerated as Florence and his first son, Eugene (my cousin, Gene) is 2 years old born in 1927-28.

I don't know where he was murdered but I suspect it was in Bryan Co., Oklahoma as Ray's second child, Joyce was born there.

Since you are a Sanders, I thought you might recognize something about this Sanders family in Bryan Co., OK.
