My own Sandy line branched off to a female in the late 1700s. However, I believe that there are male cousins from this family still living today. I may try to locate one or more cousins to participate in this Y-DNA study. First however, I would appreciate clarification about your ancestor, Uriah Sandy. From which Westmoreland Co., VA Sandy family was he a descendant? I remember seeing some references to a Uriah Sandy in the 1800s in Westmoreland Co., VA. I have also seen at least one internet database that includes a Uriah Sandy as a son of Thomas Sandy ( - bef. 29 May 1733). However, there is no court record that "proves"or even suggests this connection.
Also, has the William Sandy/Catherine Beck NC line been upgraded to at least 25 Y-DNA markers? If not, I would be willing to fund part of the cost for the upgrade.
