Rev Sankey's congregation in PA & VA
Rev Richard Sankey witnessed one of my ancestors wills and performed the baptisms, weddings etc of all his children in Prince Edward Co VA.In addition he was the instigator and first signer of a 1776 petition for religious freedom in support of the Declaration.I have this as a file for anyone desirous of a copy.
The 1755 tithables list shows my ancestors in PECoVA in 1755, although Rev Sankey did not bring the Hanover Congregation until 1759.I know Rev Sankey had been to the area many times prior to that to visit his father-in-law, Rev John Thomson.THE question is, were John, Hugh and/or Andrew Porter associated with Rev Sankey in PA or did the relationship form in VA.Has anyone seen or heard of the congregation list in PA?
