Can't find New Castle, huh?Go north from Pittsburgh, about a third of the way up the state, to where Route 422 crosses Route 79, and turn west 12 miles.Mercer Co., PA used to encompass this area, but in 1849 Lawrence Co., was carved out and then surpassed Mercer Co.
I have been researching Sankey, Cox, Canan, Onstott in this area (I live at the interseciton of Route 79 and 422), but I don't remember ever seeing MACE.Before 1850 you might find records of them in Mercer Co.
I do not know the email addresses for their historical sites but just go to GenWeb's link to counties and pick Mercer or Lawrence Co., PA's web site and someone will give you a more exact address.Lawrence Co.'s Historical Society, a Ms. Zona, may help you.Mercer Co., Mr. Sewall is a retired college professor and has the best organized Historical Society I've seen (I've not seen too many).
Researching my Cox and Sankey lines, I met someone who had researched Mathews, Brownand Cubbison because they were intermarried too.I have a deceased's researcher's notes about descendants of Jane Cubbison born Dec. 1767 who married Ezekial Sankey. It is compiled from history books at the New Castle Public Library Historical Room and from family records.I would be glad to share the pages I have via snail mail.
Good luck with the MACEs!Maybe they started in New Castle, PA!I'll keep my eye out for the MACE family name.
