Your question of how the Santillan name came to the Phillipines is answered far in the past. The Santillans originated in Spain. The town of Santillana used to be their a part of their holdings. They were related to King Ferdinand of Spain as distant cousins. In that time period royalty worked for the King and as such they spread out to the ends of the Spanish empire. My own line came to America during that time period. (About the 15 or 1600's.)To locate where your line originated check into the archives of the Spanish Navy and Merchant fleets for the years of 1530 to about 1690. The Spanards were excellent record keepers, they listed crews and passengers as well as their point of embarcation and destination. There you will find out how many Santillans traveled to the Phillipines durring that time period.
