Hi Romelia, very interesting info about the santillans coming to mexico with the conquistadores. My name is Rogelio Santillàn I am living in chicago Illinois, I have met a lot of people with this last name but I can't seem to find the relation with others; I even dated two ladies who I found later were santillans one from the state of Zacatecas the other from Hidalgo, I'm from the state of Michoacán. I tried to find the website "genealogy of Mexico" but I couldn't get it, is there anyway You can let me know the right link to it.
NOTE: In our family we have always used the accent on the letter "a" as "Santill(á)n" I don't know if this are two different variations of the name and if so, are these two different families...?
Any information is greatly appreciated.
