Zepheniah Zion, Sappington, Rebecca in Georgia
I hope there is someone on this board who may know of a connection to Zepheniah, Zion, Sappington, and Rebecca Pike listed 1860 Muscogee County Georgia. Some of the families around them include Bass, Peddy, Reese, Loftin, Kimbrough, Clark, Webb, Kitchens, Knight, Oliver, Pace, Land, Poxton, and Jones.
I have read the messages posted on this board about Sappington's and the Georgia counties they were in, and there could possibly be a connection. The given name's of Sappington and Zepheniah Pike are the reason's I suspect this. These "Pike's" have not been found in the 1850 and the first time I've located them is the 1860 Muscogee County Georgia census. Sappington (age 20) and Rebecca (age 28) are living with Bradford and Mary Pace Peddy. Sappington and Rebecca Pike are both listed as being born North Carolina. Zepheniah (age 27) and wife Mary are listed a few families down and Zepheniah Pike was born Georgia. Zion Pate Pike (age 28) and wife Mariah (her name was Sarah Owen)are listed in another household and they also were born Georgia. Zion Pate Pikemarried Sarah Owen 1857 TroupCounty Georgia.Zion Pate Pike and Sarah Owen Pike are my direct line and they are the only ones I can find after 1860. I don't know what happened to Sappington, Zepheniah or Rebecca Pike after 1860 and I don't know where any of these Pike's came from either.
There was a Phillip Pike who married a Harriet Story 1838 Upson County Georgia and they are listed 1840 Stewart County Georgia with children but They cannot be located after that time. There is a Harriet Loftin (age 57)with a daughter age 5 living next to Zepheniah in 1860 Muscogee. I've wondered if this Harriet Loftin may have been the widow of Phillip Pike and remarried a Loftin.
I hope ther is someone on this board who may can help me.
Thank You,
Sharman Hopkins
