MD/DE Sards related to Michigan Sards?

I am only just beginning to research, but I'm wondering if its possible that the Maryland/Delaware Sards might be related to my family, who settled in the Detroit Michigan area by way of upstate New York (Mohawk Valley area)in the early part of the 20th century.
