Sasser-Boyet Puzzle and Probl.em

Sasser Friends,

Everywhere, from books (e.g., J. Austin) to more family trees than I can count, there is a listing of James Boyett/e married to Sabra Sasser. The more I look into this, the more of a puzzle this becomes since from the data I find there is no basis for this (other than that there appears to be a continuing connection between the Sasser's and Boyett's).

There was indeed (from what I can tell) a marriage between a Sabra Sasser and a Boyett, but it was a JOHN Boyett (not James.) It appears that this Sabra was born about 1815 in GA and married John Boyett on 29 March 1830. This Sabra is the daughter of Thomas and Clarrisy Sasser.

The "Sabrey" who married JAMES Boyett appears to have done so abt. 1767. In other words, the James and Sabrey Boyett are a generation beyond John and Sabra Boyett. That's the data as I read it (I have to say that I've ignored the one text that lists Sabra Sasser and James as marrying since that book includes a great many mistakes of individuals in my line - including having one woman as the daughter of her brother).

If I'm missing something, someone please tell me. Or is it as it seems, that bad information has been copied over and over (and even published) without looking closely at the dates and the data?

Thanks!
N. McBee
