Carl, if you go to Post No. 742[http://genforum.genealogy.com/satterlee/messages/742.html] you will find a lot of detail on your branch of the Satterlee family.Your descent is D-? Aaron/E-3 William/F-1 James/G-1 Walter Owens/H-5 Carroll "Carl"/I-3 Floyd Owens/you.
As you will see, Goldie could not tie Aaron Satterlee b. c. 1793 to any of the known Satterlee immigrant ancestors.Your descent is exciting because you appear to be a direct male descendant of Aaron.Dr. Chip Satterly of Wilson, NC is doing a DNA study, the original purpose of which was to determine which of the supposed Satterlee brothers his line came from, but which now is focusing on whether Nicholas was actually a brother of Benedict and William, and why the male descendants of the Nicholas line are closely related to the Lewis line (the Lewises were also Seventh-Day Baptists from Westerly, RI).If you are willing to participate in the study, we might get a clue whether Aaron was descended from Nicholas or, perhaps, from William or Benedict.
If you will e-mail me directly (my e-mail is available here), I will put you in touch with Chip. After you read my post referred to above, let me know if you have more questions.
