I believe that this John was a descendant of John Satterwhite, whose will was recorded in Drysdale Parish, Caroline County, VA, 20 Sep 1779. John Satterwhite apparently married Ann Graves and lived in Essex and Caroline Counties. Abstracts of records from Essex and Caroline pertaining to John Satterwhite and his family were included in "The Papers of Edward Pleasants Valentine", published by the Valentine Museum. I believe that John Satterwhite of Essex and Caroline can be identified as John, the son of John and Frances Satterwhite, whose baptism was recorded in the Abingdon Parish Register, on 15 Oct 1700.
I am a descendant (through my ggrandmother, Martha Ann Satterwhite) of Mann Satterwhite, who, I believe, was a son of John Satterwhite of Abingdon Parish, by his second marriage to Martha Page. Apparently, this second marriage did not last long, since Martha Satterwhite was described as a "grass widow", when her son, Mann was baptized, 8 Sep 1728.
