This is a stretch but I'll let it fly anyhow. I have a Caspar Sauer listed as born +/- 1831 in Bavaria. I first find him in Pittsburgh, PA in 1857 with the birth of his youngest son Edward. He lived in Pittsburgh until his death in 1879. They had a good size family but all appeared to stay afterward.
I have in my collection a few postcards postmarked Buffalo and Utica 1908-1910 from either the Sauer family members that I know or others such as a Aunt Martha J.J. in Buffalo. It is possible that Caspar had a brother(s) in NW New York State. I also have a postcard from Heidelberg and other places not in Bavaria but possibly on the way from known family members.
Does this ring any bells?
John
