Hi Tigger,
My name is Peter Sunders and my line goes back to Gilbert Saunders (b: 1822) who was born in England and came to America with his wife Margaret Thomson (b: 1833), they had one son David (b: 1869) in New Jersey, they are in the 1870 census. The problem I found was that later on the name Saunders changed, I assume it was due to the census taker, they put down Sanders. You might want to go to the Sanders Family Gen. forum, you might find somthing that might help, also look in the Census for Sanders. Nothing is perfect.

Pete
