I wondering if anyone has any information on Lewis and Jacob Sauter. They were brothers, probably born in Germany, who had a painting business (L & J Painters) and a paint supply shop shop in Syracuse, NY, in the mid 1800's to around 1875 or so. It appears to have started out as Lewis Sauter and Brothers painters. Lewis' wife's name was Louisa, and either Lewis or Jacob had a son named Frederick J. who was born in Germany in 1830 and who was a painter in Syracuse until he died in 1892. His wife's name was Augusta, and they had three sons and six daughters.
