My Sauter Family comes from near Rottweil - a small village named Mahlstetten. Can you give any more data? I am currently living in Germany-near Heidelberg and actively research my family. I will try to help if we can narrow down something. Would it be possible for you to scan the photos and send to me? I also have old Sauter photos and am trying to find direct family as well. Ernest or Ernester is not a name found in my village-however the Sauter line tended to marry women from other villages and wander about. Maybe there is a connection. Do you know their religion? Most of southern Germany was Catholic in the early years.
