A little further digging has unearthed two previous generations. Myrle was one of thirteen children born to Fredric J. Sauter Jr. and Cora (maiden name eludes me at the moment).

Frederic J. Sauter Sr. was originally born in Baden Baden Germany and immigrated to North America where he met and married his bride Rosena in Philadelphia before settling in Iowa and raising a family there.

I guess the digging continues on the Germany forum...
