Roberta Sayers obit
Posted by: Vicki Finley (ID *****1702) Date: April 27, 2005 at 06:17:06

This is my Auntie Roberta, a very sweet lady who I'll always remember as a woman with a great sense of humor and an upbeat nature even when she was feeling low. She unknowingly became part of my link to the Sayers name with this obit, since we have very few documents tracing the name due to a fire that burned down her mother's house. The Tacoma News Tribune still has the obit online. The obit fails to mention that she was preceded in death by my mother, Gladys Eileen (Sayers)Muchow, and by her sister Winnifred (Winnie) (Sayers) Charles, and one brother, James Sayers Jr. who drowned, and another sister (can't remember the name), who was electrocuted in a freak accident at a young age. Roberta's mother was Elisabeth Edna Badder who went by "Edna".

Roberta (Robbie) Elizabeth Thomas “Gone Fishing”
6/4/22 - 4/17/05 Born in Waverly Township, Michigan to James and Edna Sayers. Moved to Tacoma as a young girl. She graduated from Fife High School where she was a majorette for the band. She spent most of her life in Tacoma before moving to Mason Lake. She worked for Safeway till back injuries halted her career. She was an avid fisherman and she liked to sew. She also loved to play shuffleboard while wintering in Yuma, Arizona. There she won numerous trophies and held numerous offices, including President of the Yuma Shuffleboard Association. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Henry C. (Chuck) Thomas; sons, Lynn Thomas and Robin Thomas; daughter Cathy Haskins; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Cabage and Alma Evans and lifelong friend Doris Grigg. There will be no funeral, but a Celebration of Life is being planned for the fourth of June. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Providence Home Care and Hospice, 2146 Railroad Ave., Shelton, WA 98584. Her smile will be missed by all who knew her.
