DNA of Irish Seyers Sayers

Would invite all Seyers and Sayers to join the DNA project at Family Tree DNA to help clear up which lineages belong to which.

For example: are the Seyers of north western Ireland any relation to the Sayers of Kerry........

and in turn: do they have any relation to the Sayres of England

Both Irish and British versions in many cases ended up with the last name Seer and Sears........

Therefore it is incredibly confusing to sort them all out.

Sayre is a Flemmish word for a type of cloth:
the vast majority of British Sayre people were of such profession and came from Holland, Flanders and Belgium

AT least one Sayre group migrated from Wales to Ireland and were shoemakers......

The northern ones likely arrived during the forced settlements of Ireland by the British : using British workers on the estates of nobles....along with Scots

I have seen the Soaghair as Sayer : but cannot find a single ancient example of such a clan.

The O Sullivans of Kerry had a sept named O Sullivan Seer

But the pre Irish form of Seer means Mason or Builder....and has nothing to do with tailoring and cloth weaving.

Again: the more DNA samples that end up in the Sayre data banks: the easier it will be to differentiate them all.

DNA testing is just a cheek swab: from a kit.....and the more that participate the cheaper it is: from around 100 dollar to 200 dollars for a good panel size of markers.

Lets figure out who these people really were.
