Saylor's (Sailor's?) Mt. Vernon, Illinois?
Recently, I have become quite interested in my family's geneology after my dad has told me about stories about his grandpa.Long story short...
My dad has said that his grandpa Rinard and his younger brother were sent to live with their aunt and uncle (Snodgrass, Mt. Vernon Il) after their parents deaths. In the household, they were mistreated badly and Rinard decided to run away and leave His younger brother Allan (?) who was always very unhealthy (we don't know if he lived).
Rinard ran away when he was abot 10 years old and soon began working on the docks of the river.Later, he somehow made it to Colorado Springs, CO. Where he worked as a cowboy on a ranch in Black Forrest, then on to Steamboat CO, where my family began.Because Rinard ran away with only a fourth grade education, we are not sure whether our last name is spelled right.(I have done a little bit of research and found a J.W Snodgrass who married an Ollie Sailor in 1894 in Mount Vernon)
I thought it owuld be interesting to find out if anyone knew of a connection to the Snodgrass family, Rinard's parents or his younger brother. Thanks!
