Tammy, In searching my Saylor Family tree, I find that you are incorrect in saying that Solomon and Sarah (Salyer) only had one child, as they had 5 sons (two of whom {Martin and John} are in my direct line) and 6 daughters.
John Saylor was born about 1790 in Russell Co. Va and he married Mary Hoskins (born about 1789 in Tenn.) about 1810 in Knox Co. Ky. Another son, Martin was born about 1796 in Russell Co. Va and he married a lady named Mary (born about 1798 in Virginia) about 1815 in Knox Co. Ky.
Martin and Mary Saylor's youngest son was Joseph S. Saylor (born about 1837 in Harlan Co. Ky).
John and Mary (Hoskins) third child, Solomon C. Saylor married Rebecca Brock (born about 1811) about 1832. Their second child, Sarah (born March 1835 in Tenn) married Joseph S. Saylor. They, in turn, had a son George W. Saylor (born about 1857) who married Susan Adaline Price (born about 1854) about 1874.
From there,I can trace the rest of the family tree to my Grandfather, Charles H. Saylor, born August 9, 1911 (he died March 26,1992. He in turn married Alethia Ossa Christ, and their daughter, my mother, was Lois O. Saylor. My Grandmother (Alethia) died shortly after the birth of my mother of "black" diptheria. He went on to marry a woman named Bertha, and they had a son named Kenneth Charles Saylor (I don't know if other children were born of this union). He then married a woman named Lorraine, and they had a son Robert.
I am hoping to have contact with any relatives...as my mother (and her children, along with my children and grandchildren) didn't have the opportunity to meet and see the rest of the Saylor clan. Many thanks and God Bless!
