My Sayre family is in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio up until my Great Grandmother Mary Melissa Sayre 1884-1956.Where I have basically lost touch with the current day Sayres.
My lineage goes like this:
Thomas Sayre 1597-1670
Daniel Sayre 1633-1707
Samuel Sayre 1668-1732
Daniel Sayre 1698-1760
David Sayre 1736-1826 (Revolutionary War Soldier)
David Sayre 1762-1856
Abel W. Sayre 1792-1862
Abel W. Sayre 1836-1880
Benjamin Samuel Sayre 1855-1938
Mary Melissa Sayre 1884-1956m. William Wiley Staats(probably illegitimate)
Velma Virginia Staats 1905-2000 m. Leslie Isaac Johnson
William Willis Johnson 1930-1987
me Deborah Johnson Durkey
People living in the West Virginia hills intermarried a lot.Cousins married cousins. And brother and sister married another brother and sister. So it turns out that I have another Sayre/Staats marriage in my family in West Virginia. So I have another line from Ezekial Sayre.Ezekial Sayre was also my great great grandfather. He was a direct descendant of Thomas Sayre. And, somewhere along the line, one of my great great Grandfather Sayre's was a brother of your philandering great great Grandfather Sayre.:)
