Hello Andrew,
I am not related.

There is a Revolutionary War record that could very well be your John Huston.

It is filed as John Houston/Mary/SC.

According to this record he was born in Ireland, fought as a substitute for his father in SC, was wounded, taken prisoner, then paroled. He married Mary Unknown in the Summer of 1788. Nineteen years after the war, they moved to Georgia.

Widow Mary was allowed Pension in 1843 when she was seventy-five years old. They had a son named Samuel.

If this sounds like your family and you would like to have a copy of this record, let me know and I will send it to your email.
