You could try contacting the Aiken Standard and see if they will research an obit for you. You might also buy a 1-day pass to the online Augusta Chronicle archives ($4.95) if you think it might be in the Augusta GA newspaper. The State of SC will release the 1963 death records to the public in 2013. You can get a death cert copy now from the State Dept of Health, but they make you jump through hoops to get it
