I think you may be thinking about what sometimes is called Pickens Chapel Cemetery. It is in northern Anderson County on Three and Twenty Rd. If you go to the Cemetery Listings on this site to A225 (I think is the right one) you will find pictures of all the tombstones. The Hughes that are buried there are Micajah Hughes and his wife, at locations cg-1006 and cg-1005. I understand that there is an Andrew Micajah Hughes who married Obedience Sumner. IF, and that is a LARGE IF, this is the same person, then these are your people. Their graves are marked with fieldstones, but Micajah's has a fairly legible "MH" chiseled on his stone. The same site that has the pictures of the tombstones has a four part picture of a map of the cemetery showing each of the graves with their number. 1005 and 1006 are about in the center. Beware of the poison ivy on the way to and from the cemetery. There's not much in the cemetery itself, as the last time I was up, I cleaned most of it out, but it does grow back. There are snakes around, but in my almost 60 years I've only even heard of one copperhead on the old homeplace there, so they should not be a problem. There are 26 Rev. War veterans buried there, by the way. A national treasure. There is a sign on the roadside that is barely readable, but it is black with silver letters, and that is enough to let you know you're there. The church is visible from the road if you know where to look, and the cemetery is about 50 yards behind it. Follow the old road that is to the left of the church and then go around to the right, still following the old road. It's now just kind of a 12 foot wide opening in the trees, so use your imagination and look for the tombstones. If you get there after Nov 1, I may have gotten up and kind of cleaned things and reset a stone or two, if I can get some help. I hope you find your people. I'd be interested in learning about the Hughes, as I'm always trying to learn about who's buried in our cemetery.
