Hello Richard,

May I suggest you search online (free) at the South Carolina Department of Archives and History?

There are many records there for Charles Lowndes. It will be up to you to decide which record pertains to "your" Charles.

What you see online are names indexed within a document. You rarely see the "actual" document, but you can find out for example, that it is a plat for land, the year, the location, etc.

Do this...click on the following link...then click on

'Records Indexes to Key Series Available On-line'

Then click 'SEARCH' tab (Lower right corner)

There are *SO-O-O* many ways to use this search page. For starters, I suggest you choose...

ALL DATABASES
INDIVIDUAL
Lowndes, Charles
