Re: Private Angus J. Clark, Company F, 4th SC Cavalry I am seeking assistance in determining if this Confederate soldier is the same Angus Clark who resided on Edisto Island in the 1850's & 1860's up to the point of Union occupation. The census records show them to be the same age, but little else is available to me from my home in Virginia. Private Angus Clark died in Richmond on March 30, 1865 at age 53 (almost 54 ) shortly after being exchanged as a POW. It is amazing that a man his age could have served in the hard riding, hard fighting Confederate cavalry. I happened on his burial site in Richmond's Hollywood Cemetery (18,000 Confederate soldiers are there) and arranged for a suitable marker to be placed. It can be viewed at the website for "Southern Soldiers Remembrance Fund" (just google this name). Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, D.
