I am researching a John Sammons b. c. 1802 in SC. I am interested to know whether this John is possibly the John Sammons found in the 1820 and 1830 Darlington Co SC Censuses and the reported son of Hansel Sammons. I am short on early records for this John. My father found John first in the 1860 Wayne Co MS Census, and I only recently found him in the 1850 Holmes Co FL Census. The John I am descended from eventually settled in Wayne Co MS where he died sometime after 1860. His migration can be tracked through birthdates and locations found in the 1850 Holmes Co FL Census: 1. (Maybe?) John is found in the 1820 Darlington Co SC Census a. 18-25 2. Eli a. 22 b. 1828 SC 3. (Maybe?) John is found in the 1830 Darlington Co SC Census a. 20-30 4. Caroline a. 18 b. 1832 GA 5. Looking for records in the 1832/33 Georgia Gold Rush Lotteries 6. Mary a. 14 b. 1836 AL 7. 1840 AL/FL Census: not found yet 8. Luanzy a. 9 b. 1841 FL 9. 1850 Holmes Co FL Census: John Sammons a. 48 b. 1802 SC 10. 1860 Wayne Co MS Census: John Sammons a. 56 b. 1804 SC I am descended from his youngest daughter, Luanzy Jane Sammons, who married John Campbell in Wayne Co MS. All of Luanzy's later records show she was born 1841 in Florida. Question: Is there a possibility that the John Sammons of the 1850 Holmes Co FL Census is John s/o Hansel from Darlington Co SC?
