Looking for a solid connection between Permelia Jane Thomas and Celia Thomas. Both were born in SC about 1810. Celia is said to be from Darlington SC and Permelia's husband, William Pinckney Best, was from Darlington SC and is on the 1830 census. Celia married William P. Hudson in Darlington about 1832. Both families moved to Pickens Alabama about 1846 and then to Itawamba MS in 1849. The families are living two houses apart on the 1850 census (Best is misspelled as Bisk). In 1866, Permelia's son William Best named his first daughter Celia.
From an old genealogy of the Best family by Lt. Colonel Dale Best, it is mentioned that Permelia's father is John B. Thomas. There is a John Thomas in Darlington from 1810 to 1830 whose census profile fits the birthdates of the two daughters. But - the rest of the information on John Thomas in the Best book seems to be about a different John Thomas, one who went to Illinois very early in the 1800s. Thus, I am starting over on this family line.
