I have been looking for the parents of the following PETTY for the past 30 + years. If you have any info, I would approciate a response (any supporting documents would be great):

William PETTY, b. 1775, Darlington County, SC
Wife: Betsy (Nancy) Powers
Son: Gayton PETTY, b 1798, Darlington County, SC
Gayton is my direct line

I've seen a pedigree from ancestry.com that indicates his father is Theopholus PETTY, b. 1734, Richmond, Va; mother is Wisela. I have not yet received any communication from the owner of the pedigree.

However, I'v seen pedigrees that indicate the same Theopholus did not have a son named William.

Supposively, the same Theo left Va, went to NC, SC and AL, where he died, but was burried in Kershaw SC (county adjacent to Darlington)
