Dear Helen,

Here is a little excerpt of what you will find out about your family's line....
William Lewis of Hertford, NC was born in 1740 and married Mourning Van Pelt of Bertie, NC circa 1764. About 1768, William and Mourning moved to what is present-day Horry County, South Carolina, with their two young children, William, Jr. and Mary (Polly). They proceeded to acquire farmlands and to produce more children, some that remained in Horry County, some that moved on to Marion County, and some that moved on to Alabama and Mississippi. William Lewis died in August, 1811.

James Lewis is their son.
