Hi, Lynn! my LANGDALE contact sent me this: """The Dukes-Langdale connection has long been on my list of things to investigate. I came across this item several years ago, and in my research I noticed Langdale-Dukes relationships generation after generaton, right down to the present day. I know a young man named ****** Dukes who does accounting for the Langdale Company in Valdosta. His father was a Langdale friend, a lawyer as I recall. There was a Dukes who was a partner in the turpentine business with Judge Harley Langdale. Whether the Dukes in Valdosta today are descendants of this Dukes family in South Carolina, I don't know, but I would not be surprised to find that it's so. As you know, there was a substantial migration of Colleton County residents to South Georgia in the first half of the 19th century, which included John Robert Langdale. John""" believe DUKES family also settled in Sumter/Lake County area of Florida...this is where my great grandfather, John William HARRIS is buried...he was born in Colleton Co, SC 1855...his mother is LANGDALE...
