Doug. I checked the 1840 list of Revolutionary War Pensioners. There was no John Scott receiving a Rev. War Pension in South Carolina in 1840, as he had moved to Indiana between 1800-1807. There was in Jackson County, Indiana, a Benjamin Scott 86years old in the household of a John Scott. Do you have the date of John Scott's death? If he passed prior to 1840 he would not be on the list. Go to Google, enter 1840 Census of Pensioners of Revolution. It will be the first listing. Scroll down to the State you want to search. Punch it in, then Alpha. last name. The Benjamin Scott listed above would most likely be the Father of the John Scott also listed above. John was one of the most popular names. Did your John have a second name or initial? Charles Taylor Notify Administrator about this message?
