Charles,

Our John Scott was on the 1800 census in Greenville and moved to Indiana sometime before 1807. He appears on the special territorial census in Dearborn County (Indiana Territory)in that year. That area became Franklin County in 1811 and he is never mentioned in the records for that county, so I believe he died between 1807 and 1811. His son Joel (born 1786) came to the area from South Carolina sometime around 1812, so he might have lived on the Gap Creek land up to then. The one you found (w/Benjamin) is not ours. As you state, John is a very popular name. Our John's father was also John and he is possibly the one who served in the Rev. War (family history but not verified). Thanks for looking.
