I am not related.

I can't help much, but this may tell you which county to search. There is one document at the SC Dept. of Archives for a Thomas Horton. It is: MILITIA ENROLLMENTS OF MEN BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18 AND 30 FOR LANCASTER COUNTY.

You can view this document online, Free. Here is a link...type in surname first, then given. Click on the name, then click search.
