I can't give the dob, dod, etc of the following family group. However......
On a visit in March 2004 to Edgefield Tompkins Library, Nonie helped locate notation in Edgefield County Wills and Probate (records located in Abbeville Co Courthouse)referring to my Wilson family group which I copied. I then wrote to the Courthouse in Abbeville. The response was "the Courthouse burned" and the documents are lost.
A document: Henry Wilson Box 101, Pack 2500, estab adm 5 Dec 1831 signed by John W Anglin, Wm H Jones, Joel Smith, unto Moses Taggart order Abbeville District sum of $1000 citation published at Providence Church.
`The children named in another entry states "on 11 Dec 1812, Joseph Bickley was guardian of Wilson minors, John, Thomas, Susan W, Amelia and Francis Wilson, minors under 14, and Charles Wilson, minor over 14 yrs citation of Elizabeth Wilson in same pack published 8/26/1838 at Upper Cane Church.
I've found reference to the marriage of Henry Wilson of Cambridge and Betsy Whitfield in Charleston, SC. in 1792?.
Joseph Bickley's wife may likely have been Betsy's (Elizabeth?) sister and thus the children were placed int the guardianship of their aunt's husband, said Bickley.
My ggggrandmother, Mary Amelis Wilson Tisdale Simmons's marriage info to Joseph Wade Tisdale on 4 Mar 1830 born in New Bern NC, then living in Mobile, ALA, is given in Greenwood Co Sketches. I estimate Mary Amelia's birth as 1805-1811. Following his death in 1848, Mary Amelia married (John) Simmons, had no offspring of that marriage and probably lived with (John's)descendents in the Tangipahoa Parish LA/ Pike County, MS area at the time of her death.
Does your cousin have confirmation or data that lists any of these persons? I have the Robert Tisdale book and have seen the Rosa Tisdale book. But I follow my female lines too. Are there persons doing family history on these lines i. e. any of the siblings listed as guardianees.
I have other questions about the history of Edgefield/Abbeville/Greenwood County and migration to SC.
Please forward this to your cousin! I will be happy to share the information I have, most of which is recorded here. Thanks so much!
