William Maxwell died about 1794. He bought land on Grannies Quarter Creek about 1791. His wife, Abigail (MILHOUS), was not mentioned in any papers. John D. Maxwell of Lancaster County, his brother, was the administrator of the estate. William's oldest son, John, was 15; Joseph was 11 and Sarah was 6. The other children were Charles Henry, James W., Betsey and Polley. Sarah married T. D. RUMPH, Betsey and Polley married Elisha POOSER and Thomas FISHBURN. Friends and neighbors included MILHOUS, KIRKLAND,CHESNUT, LANG, CLINTON, BEARDS, ADAMSON, PETTY, SALMONDS, COUGHRAN, MILL, CHAMPION, McKEES, CLARK, BLACKMAN, COOK, SLOAN, APPLEBY, RIGGS, SALMONDE, MICKLE, GARDNER, BELL, STARKE, DICKSON, BOYKIN, SHALFORD, WATSON, NARREMORE, and SMYRL. The land was sold in 1816.
