This letter of Attorney from George Miller to John Miller was executed in court and proven by the certificate thereon endorsed which is ordered to be recorded. The above was in regard to “one certain tract or parcel of land containing 216 acres being the same more or less lying in the county of Wythe on the waters of Reed Creek being part of 1450 acres on which John Miller now lives and bounded as follows….....” John Miller Senr. (for George Miller) sold to John Miller Jnr. _______________________________________ I do not know if these Millers are related. I know that a Daniel G. Miller, Sr.and wife Sarah, bought and sold land on Reed Creek, Wythe County, VA in 1793-1797. There were a number of Miller's in Wythe County, VA including Austin Austin W. Christian Daniel David George W. Hiram Isaac Jacob James James R. James W. John John C. Joseph Martin Morgan William William R. Willoughley, Jr. I am trying to find out where my Daniel Miller, Sr was in the 1790's in Virginia before moving with his wife to the Cumberland Gap where he was burned out by Federal troops for living on Indian lands in 1799. He then moved his family to Barbourville, Knox County, Kentucky and then to Big Spring (now Springdale)Claiborne County, Tennessee about 1826. His sons move to Missouri and settle around St Joseph, Missouri from 1838 to 1855. His grandson, Richard Ballinger Miller, is in the 1860 census in Raymond, Hinds County, Mississippi and listed as a slaver. I have no idea why he is there other than he is selling slaves. There are a number of Miller's in Hinds County, Mississippi in 1830 on, from South Carolina including Abner b. 1794 Frederick b. 1792 They had slaves and by 1860 the many Miller families have extensive numbers of slaves. Perhaps that is why my Richard is there? Extension of the family back east? Then there is Miller, Stephen Decatur (1787-1838) Governor of South Carolina, 1828-30 Born in The Waxhaws, Lancaster County, S.C., Died in Raymond, Hinds County, Miss., March 8, 1838. I wonder if these Millers are all connected somehow? The South Carolina to Virginia link and the South Carolina to Mississippi link, the Missouri to Mississippi in 1860. I have no proof of their connection other than the locations listed above and the same last name. Perhaps someone will be able to find a link someday. Should someone wish a copy of the digital picture of the above Power of Attorney or a copy of the sale let me know. I would be happy to share.
