Thank you for your prompt reply.

I didn't really expect any answers, I was just putting my puzzle pieces out on the table for all to see.

My Daniel G. Miller, Sr probably died about April 1837 in Claiborne County, Tennessee. The children were busy selling their 1/6 share of acreage to their sister Thurza ann (what a name) and her husband Hugh Jones by May 1837. There is a mention of a land deed in Deed book L in Claiborne County, TN "Miller (heirs) to Daniel Miller 1826". Of course that is one of two deed books that do not exist anymore. It is my thought Daniel Sr. inherited the land from his father or uncle and that is why he moved from KY to TN. I have to see if I can find the original sale to this mysterious Miller and find one that died about 1826.

Another problem is my Miller siblings named all their children after each other but I do not seem to find any naming patterns that would have been copied by their parents. Hiram G. , Herrold W., Isaac, Daniel G. Jr., Leander, Thurza ann.

My family has a sword that my Great Aunt Edna said was from George Miller. I found a note on the belt that said it was "given to Leander Miller in Feb 1828 by his men". Leander (my GGGrandfather, Daniel Miller's son) would have been 26 and there was no war and I was at a loss about it until I looked up information in Knoxville, TN last month. The sword fits the time frame to be Leander's, 1820-1840, but I am still left with the name George Miller. Daniel's middle initial is G and so are 2 of his sons, Hiram G. and Daniel G. Jr.. My first thought is George. But the year 1800 has been a brick wall for me and this family and I can't connect to any George. That is why I took pics of this land deed. It was on Reed Creek (which is a long creek) the same creek I was looking at for my Daniel.

I note that George used the word" friend" in the document rather than "brother" or "son" but I do not know if this was common for the time if John was a cousin or something.

When I was starting out with my research 5 years ago I was looking in Clay County, Kentucky for information about Daniel's son Leander. I was told by a woman, that years ago, she had a woman researching the Millers in Clay and Knox County, Kentucky and those Millers were from South Carolina. She didn't remember who the woman was or who the Millers were she was looking at. Another bit of trivia that rattles around my brain for years.

I am in contact with the GGGrandson of Leander Miller and his slave Daphne. His family oral history says one of his GGGgrandfathers was sold into the deep South. Alabama is in that oral history. Your george has family ties to Alabama. Another trivial bit to rattle around.

I am sorry I did not look for the land deed of when George BOUGHT the land. I just took copies of the sale and didn't really read any of it until yesterday. There is the rest of the 1200 or so acres he still owned in 1806. That maybe something to pursue.

I live in Colorado but will be in Virginia, I hope, in 2 years and plan to go back to Wythe County. Maybe we will have more info to go on by then.
