Dear Steve, I don't know how much this will help you, but I have a Kershaw Co. Rozier (spelled with a Z) that married into my family, as well. His name was Martin Simpson Rozier. Born 8 Dec 1887 in Bethune, Kershaw Co. Died 20 Sep 1947 in the same county. He married Alma West, and they were parents to at least 3 children. Both he and Alma are buried at Scotch Cemetery in Kershaw Co. The funeral home records for Martin Rozier show his parents to be W. (William?) and Carrie Yarborough Rozier. Yarborough is also a Kershaw Co. family. Don't know anything else about Martin, but I'm almost positive I have seen the Rozier/Rosier name in the 1850 census for Chesterfield Co. SC. I didn't follow it up because he only married into a branch of my family, but I'll go back and check to be sure. Interestingly enough, I am directly descended from Rosiers in Tennessee. The names in that family are Drayton, Marcus Britton, Miller, and Alonzo. So far I have not discovered a connection between the Rosiers in TN and the Roziers in SC. Will send more info if I discover it. In the meantime, you may want to check records with the Z spelling as well as the S. Good luck! Notify Administrator about this message?
