looking for any info regarding Erastus Everson from MA (not to be confused with same name from Indiana during the same time span). So far I have William F Everson (b 1824) [married Salome Crocker, had child > Erastus W. Everson = b. abt 1837 (? in Hanson Ma ?) 1860 moved to Dedham – work as “copyist” 1861 April 16 joined army = Company A, 3rd Infantry regiment Mass (Halifax Light Infantry) 24 August 1861 joined Company H, 18th Infantry Regiment Massachusetts on and was then promoted to Full Sergeant 1st Class on the same day. on 01 August 1862 he was promoted to Full Lieutenant 2nd Class. on 30 August 1862 he was wounded at the second Bull Run, VA. on 13 December 1862 He was then again wounded at Fredericksburg, VA. on 25 February 1863 he was promoted to Full Lieutenant 1st Class. on 10 December 1863 he was honorably discharged from Company H, 18th Infantry Regiment Massachusetts the following day joined Company D, 20 Veteran Res. Corps, as a 1st Lieutenant. 1866 assigned as inspector general of South Carolina troups (18 months) 1867 October 28 marries Harriet Fales of Dedham, Ma. (three years work for Freedman’s Bureau ends in 1869) 1870 census – Erastus W. Everson in Anderson South Carolina 1870 moves to Columbia, SC – editor of Union, SC newspaper [at some point is S.C. state librarian] 1874 still in South Carolina (University of S.C.) 1880 living in either Hanson (separated) or Dedham (married) Likely in Atlanta Georgia in 1887 winter (? 1886-1887 winter ?) 1887 September Harriet dies [45 yrs old] listed as married– no children Likely in Newark Ohio in Late 1887 /early 1888 In Boston on 3/11/1888 (missing for at least a month following blizzard on 3/12/1888) 1894 Marshfield directory – Erastus Everson – journalist 1897 April – Erastus died - buried in Pembroke MA with Notify Administrator about this message?
