Adair/George/Johnson in Laurens Co. 1770-1790+?

From the records listed on the internet it seems that the Benjamin Adair/John George/Wm Johnson connection began in or prior to 1770 in South Carolina; I intend to do some on-site investigation in the Laurens Co. areas as soon as I can develop the project data a little further. Members of these families moved to Caldwell County, Kentucky prior to 1801 according to land purchase records.

Land records show Wm. Johnston (my ancestor and son-in-law of John George 1st) and John George (John 1st died in 1813; Zadoc and Benjamin Adair were listed on his estate settlement) families left Caldwell County, Kentucky for new land in Dallas and Perry Counties, Alabama as it was being settled; the land sales and purchase records show this happened about 1819. John George 2nd returned to Caldwell Co. about a year later; don’t know if all of the other Georges went back or not, but I think some of John 2nd family members stayed in Alabama after his return to Ky.

After the death of Wm. Johnson (he had dropped the “t” about 1820) the land records of sale and purchase show his sons and daughters left Alabama in 1854 and purchased almost 5,000 acres in Freestone County, Texas just west of Rusk County where, I understand, the George families settled. Maybe the George family settled there first and the Johnsons came later.

I didn’t keep track of the Adair or George clans after the movement to Alabama.
